YOPD Gathering
17th May 2025
A gathering for people with Young Onset and people of working age living with Parkinson’s Disease
MEET OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING WITH PARKINSON’S
COME AND SAY HI
We’re really happy to be able to offer a space for people to get together at the Big Sky Hideaway, near Boston, Lincolnshire.
From 2-4pm on Saturday 17th May, we’re opening our barn doors to anyone affected by YOPD - friends and family are of course welcome as well.
There’ll be tea, coffee and soft drinks available…and probably cake too!
For this first gathering, we’re keeping it simple, no agenda, just a welcome hello and chance to mingle and chat with others who understand.
The barn has a few games including table tennis and table football, and we could even break out the lawn games!
Oh, and did I mention you get the chance to meet the alpacas….?!
Our site covers 15 acres including 4 acres of woodland which you are welcome to explore.
This is a chance for us to get together with other people of working age living with Parkinson’s and we’d love to explore the idea of maybe a YOPD micro festival later in the year or next spring but rest assured this won’t be the last of its kind at Big Sky.
We would just love to meet you and get to know this unique community a little better and maybe we can support each other to live positively with Parkinson’s.
Accessibility
Big Sky is all one level so there are no hills involved! The barn is all completely flat however, the track leading from the carpark to the barn (about 100 meters) is gravel or grass. For anyone who might find mobility a challenge, we have a solar powered buggy and Dave has offered to play chauffeur for the afternoon!
Every aspect of Big Sky is complimentary to nature so we have clean, scentless compost loos on site with a wheelchair friendly option next to the barn.
If you have any questions please visit our FAQs page as a first point of call and if you can’t find what you need, feel free to get in touch with Em at howdy@bigskyhideaway.com
Coming from afar?
This event is open to anyone, whether you are local or not so we have some sleeping options for you. We’d like to offer free camping for the weekend to anyone coming to the gathering if you’d like to bring your own camping gear. To book a free camping spot for this weekend, use the code ALPACAMYPILLS at the checkout.
We understand that some might like a step up from camping, so please take a look at our unique glamping options - everything from floating hammocks in the trees to a double decker bus is on site so you can chill for the whole weekend.
Please be aware the site is open to the public that weekend too and accommodation is first come first served. We also have two bedrooms available to book in our home on site. If you’d like to stay in the house, please mention it on the registration form when booking your place.
Saturday Night
On Saturday nights at Big Sky, we often have pizza night in the barn bar, which is open to the rest of the guests on site and the local community - you are more than welcome to stay, hang out and join in the fun.
It would be handy to know rough numbers for pizza night so please fill in the short form when you get your ticket.
